<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaSNxxcKcGiALJPcxq9UypcrqmoFrODOxgfAv7cKBJKiqB6TAW17RTr3KPdWkkWckTnpLA7f-CJNH6szZyvo6CGEWTP3hI4gjvCCbK9L91VdXXGCwwD0vDubMs-SWXHbGW7G3fc4FQEeg/s1600/P1050356.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaSNxxcKcGiALJPcxq9UypcrqmoFrODOxgfAv7cKBJKiqB6TAW17RTr3KPdWkkWckTnpLA7f-CJNH6szZyvo6CGEWTP3hI4gjvCCbK9L91VdXXGCwwD0vDubMs-SWXHbGW7G3fc4FQEeg/s200/P1050356.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
Sometimes so much happens I stop.<br />
<br />
Sometimes I need to tidy my studio but I don't. I leave it and leave it and work through the chaos knowing I need to stop work, tidy up and clear my head, but I get stuck. There is a vague thought that if I finish this painting or get past this event first, then I can tidy, but it goes on too long and the tidying never happens. The stuff piles up and it becomes hard to see what is happening or focus and a darkness falls over me.<br />
<br />
A similar thing happens with writing blog posts and putting things on Instagram or my Face Book page. When I'm not working I can't see the point and the longer I am silent the harder it is to speak again.<br />
<br />
<br />
But I am working! I'm just being hard on myself because I'm not in my studio making.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsYZJzm0hgcBa7obCwq9ChJl4Fh_gAQ7ma37isHZaN1B2hjtumKCt1nI-F_4xEtJ7oQJh_IGgT_zIelvAltGBYCUdw5uTkA0hS0Pr7UAZ1x4TqI9TByT_qqcBmDsom8sLSoa7yQnqrTbM/s1600/Limpets.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="195" data-original-width="1600" height="77" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsYZJzm0hgcBa7obCwq9ChJl4Fh_gAQ7ma37isHZaN1B2hjtumKCt1nI-F_4xEtJ7oQJh_IGgT_zIelvAltGBYCUdw5uTkA0hS0Pr7UAZ1x4TqI9TByT_qqcBmDsom8sLSoa7yQnqrTbM/s640/Limpets.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I stopped making last year because I was illustrating 'Treasure from the Sea' That was an amazing experience. So very hard and at times I doubted my ability to complete it. But my heart and soul went into it, I am happy with the paintings I did and am now looking forward to seeing it published.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
Anyway the paint had just dried on the last painting for the book when I heard the news that I was moving house in 2 weeks. Not much time to pack up 11 years of home and studios. We've only been in 6 weeks, much done but a mountain of stuff ahead too.<br />
<br />
As yet I have no sculpture workshop. Hoping that next month I can start on that. But the painting studio is mostly set up (now the water pouring in through the ceiling and rotten lino have been sorted)<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />

But this post is really about the new website. I'm creating it myself in Wordpress so it will be fairly basic to start with because I'm learning. But I want to get this blog copied over to it so I am all in one place. Apparently I can do that but as I have lots of other stuff on it may take a while to sort out. Not ready to share my website yet but ready or not people are going to see it at the end of this month because I am doing Open Studios Cornwall 2018.<br />

It's been a long time since I posted in here. It's been a busy year but not in my sculpture studio. Sadly the <a href="http://smccartney.blogspot.co.uk/2016/12/the-first-100-led-block-lit.html" target="_blank">light pieces </a>I've been working on have been put on hold for a while.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaF-oMVYA7LMUwFaeuTZjkpN0siXz8VcUOl0OqI-88Qj2-zisl2JKqr9RbPR2TMgX6A-ZdFyHz3FMiTUErhGC13GDiNrkjD-OLGFmf0fkD9Zip0Z3a5rxvnR0pimvbAXZ9yWK-8jB8Q2U/s1600/P1100133.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaF-oMVYA7LMUwFaeuTZjkpN0siXz8VcUOl0OqI-88Qj2-zisl2JKqr9RbPR2TMgX6A-ZdFyHz3FMiTUErhGC13GDiNrkjD-OLGFmf0fkD9Zip0Z3a5rxvnR0pimvbAXZ9yWK-8jB8Q2U/s400/P1100133.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
But I've been illustrating a children's book.<br />
<br />
And after a year of hard work I am now nearing the end.<br />
Soon I will be able to talk about it more.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I am also in the middle of moving house and developing a website. Both very time consuming.<br />
The new house will mean a bigger studio for my sculpture and a lighter painting room for my illustration work.<br />
Also a big garden.<br />
Looking forward to growing my own vegetables!Sarah McCartneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09925936480316143624noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1482291596084469746.post-38069589026460944392017-01-16T03:01:00.001-08:002017-01-16T03:01:08.527-08:00still life drawing...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<a href="https://www.facebook.com/pg/smccartneyartist/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1217866644928396" target="_blank">First life drawing session of the year</a> last night. I am managing to go life drawing fairly regularly now.<br />
I spend much of my time painting very detailed, small things, so it is wonderful and very important that I can occasionally be free with a large piece of paper, a large chunk of charcoal and a big paint brush.<br />
<br />
I put all life drawings in <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pg/smccartneyartist/photos/?tab=albums" target="_blank">albums</a> on my Face Book page <a href="http://facebook.com/smccartneyartist/">facebook.com/smccartneyartist/</a><br />

<br />
It wasn't that long ago that I did a big tidy up in my garage. Yet it was back to busy chaos again almost immediately and by Christmas it was looking like this. Many things happening at once but no room for anything to happen till I tidy up!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcvXHpibHE6CVlSVJxSl8fcEoEUmZuSErG4jG1i6J0y-IZjiaVIKKeo6CgqYZz6Nx4-wAloy_-IeMxV6iapkk88AfU_4c4VP0Bc5-bVm9vNwwTbyUZNJ7hpFH1Gp27ftq0SSEaGn9nLs8/s1600/studio-after.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcvXHpibHE6CVlSVJxSl8fcEoEUmZuSErG4jG1i6J0y-IZjiaVIKKeo6CgqYZz6Nx4-wAloy_-IeMxV6iapkk88AfU_4c4VP0Bc5-bVm9vNwwTbyUZNJ7hpFH1Gp27ftq0SSEaGn9nLs8/s400/studio-after.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Today it looks like this.<br />
<br />
All the things I'm in the middle of doing set out neatly, ready to go.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0tf0PvCOehEY8J9dOJgn74n9KSHD_V3VqMXj-5LAJ4mgjN1yq2m42ymI-zH19y1evrvl0yIzsU0kEy58ofehVynIyN9_4AuxkjritnfweR7vu55tPJ69eB-GATxWqPudfhBIZ16_-x-s/s1600/P1090231.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><img border="0" height="230" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0tf0PvCOehEY8J9dOJgn74n9KSHD_V3VqMXj-5LAJ4mgjN1yq2m42ymI-zH19y1evrvl0yIzsU0kEy58ofehVynIyN9_4AuxkjritnfweR7vu55tPJ69eB-GATxWqPudfhBIZ16_-x-s/s400/P1090231.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
These two need their batteries fitted so I can finish them...<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUdNQ723CQZc6ZkpvPWrAFrNB4qxKCp7Ll9tDKjEXaB7DvwHGa6g0irKbmbkIHMonuHOupdEDxZhQ2JUCR8Q3HcpfyuYwSwhmpL7gzZckKLHzIXLoxcv5YncwMFQEnHc1haNDIoYhrMCM/s1600/P1090232.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUdNQ723CQZc6ZkpvPWrAFrNB4qxKCp7Ll9tDKjEXaB7DvwHGa6g0irKbmbkIHMonuHOupdEDxZhQ2JUCR8Q3HcpfyuYwSwhmpL7gzZckKLHzIXLoxcv5YncwMFQEnHc1haNDIoYhrMCM/s400/P1090232.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
This one and the other two beside it need the LED's soldered up and tested. Soldering is the best job for when I am feeling a bit over whelmed by life...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfFVv3Ot3MSApOqcBGGyV-Bq5Axf2OnDfluOLIYoEBkRM0eD1Q2A7jZ2AuJNGCcVDTnC5sFTE9QqJ1W3QRqikFyBxxwWkr_wBXDkGxKZvheCFuDs1EHeb9X98z4VYbmIxrDVbi4TmQBIU/s1600/P1090234.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfFVv3Ot3MSApOqcBGGyV-Bq5Axf2OnDfluOLIYoEBkRM0eD1Q2A7jZ2AuJNGCcVDTnC5sFTE9QqJ1W3QRqikFyBxxwWkr_wBXDkGxKZvheCFuDs1EHeb9X98z4VYbmIxrDVbi4TmQBIU/s400/P1090234.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
This one has the led's soldered together and now needs setting in resin then the wall fixing sorted out ...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaeb-eWv3PBY0P3UY1PviIzbdJZYp-nmOexDaLI9GteMJM_ZtiR7HF2sFS-23pUr0GEd-dmr7vwjL4zi0DJWEPrrzXNkUEq8pdq00urJyGnsKRLmy1PO333_tYjGZvrVh4ysXMqEukNhw/s1600/P1090233.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaeb-eWv3PBY0P3UY1PviIzbdJZYp-nmOexDaLI9GteMJM_ZtiR7HF2sFS-23pUr0GEd-dmr7vwjL4zi0DJWEPrrzXNkUEq8pdq00urJyGnsKRLmy1PO333_tYjGZvrVh4ysXMqEukNhw/s400/P1090233.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I have new moulds to try out ...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
and my painting room is full of boxes of things I can't keep in the garage over winter because they go mouldy or get eaten. A casting is needed to clear the decks ...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
oh and there are boxes of resins that need polishing ,,,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUU5rhdc_kD3-FrJdp9s6t9ZTlkzk6WOoICPK9EY0Kco_keHdFAdmaKCRk4E1e8hnYeNuifId9Vg5rM_A_ng9UBS6H6aRA0bjcI2I7V2dKB_VJ4_aBoqF9cjloBtGYiocf63RxvpxYu8Q/s1600/P1090219.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="308" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUU5rhdc_kD3-FrJdp9s6t9ZTlkzk6WOoICPK9EY0Kco_keHdFAdmaKCRk4E1e8hnYeNuifId9Vg5rM_A_ng9UBS6H6aRA0bjcI2I7V2dKB_VJ4_aBoqF9cjloBtGYiocf63RxvpxYu8Q/s640/P1090219.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
... so when me and Marmite are having a little break from painting, I can now get out in my garage and get on with some of these goodies. I like that I have something practical to do when my eyes need a rest and I can't paint any more. </div>

<br />
Busy with illustration and other things but slowly plodding on in the garage with the 100 led peices. Another one soldered up and ready to set but no resin so that will be next year now.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile making new moulds so I can make tiles. Fun playing with lego again...<br />

Thinking of making door handles, beads, tiles and coasters. Small things I can sell to fund the big things. </div>

When these are out I'll make another set of the square ones.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
I wasted a bit on this pour. Overestimated how much it would take to fill these. I could have made another small mould and it's expensive stuff. </div>

So I finished one of the 'one hundred LED blocks' and had it hanging at the Art House this weekend. Good to see it working. Didn't manage to get brilliant photos of it but there will be other times. I will have some of my things at The Art House Christmas arts and crafts party this weekend. Will be there on Friday evening from 5pm. Then Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 11.30am to 5pm.<br />
<br />
Have finished one of the 100 led blocks, so that will be there and have I filled my new light box with small resins to sell. There will be some 3x3 light boxes and a few other pieces.<br />
<br />
Please come and say hello.<br />

<br />
Finished making the five blocks with the big mould and after much sanding and polishing I'm ready to start the lighting.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
A few soldering lessons and much note taking with my electrician genius friend Mike and I'm off.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Did the three small blocks first.<br />
They work OK!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrabpkUuIXG4sR8WbtkZfJs8CAAu0gMd1Ac2Mbd6cdW2fEKaw16sKcJLU0mnd21NfJPoi2N48MR3CYbni7Vjo6c9jHo9-oacD8Rqlv4GSN2F17asPBkUYBgGBzRej62l8JZRtSilcPuqI/s1600/P1080448.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="271" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrabpkUuIXG4sR8WbtkZfJs8CAAu0gMd1Ac2Mbd6cdW2fEKaw16sKcJLU0mnd21NfJPoi2N48MR3CYbni7Vjo6c9jHo9-oacD8Rqlv4GSN2F17asPBkUYBgGBzRej62l8JZRtSilcPuqI/s400/P1080448.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
So started drilling the hundred holes in one of the big blocks.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJx1kyChyFnaIQoNwbXLsATptMoGp1oG_nIWQeqk9FI_CXSo8d8m4Awt3zrDY5EahtBFJWf-S9h9LW-R1wyUJd2GzWrbgY03gcIxMnNd8ESrzpy1Rpi2Kzc7Y8tYn8ldiLyytz1x41DW0/s1600/P1080451.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJx1kyChyFnaIQoNwbXLsATptMoGp1oG_nIWQeqk9FI_CXSo8d8m4Awt3zrDY5EahtBFJWf-S9h9LW-R1wyUJd2GzWrbgY03gcIxMnNd8ESrzpy1Rpi2Kzc7Y8tYn8ldiLyytz1x41DW0/s400/P1080451.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
All good and started soldering a resistor to each LED bulb. Hopefully will have some time soon to get this one soldered together and lit up.<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Meanwhile a wildlife update.<br />
<br />
Buff tip caterpillars have been falling on me as I work. I gather them up and put them on the ground underneath the silver birches where they came from. I think they drop to the ground when they are fat and ready to pupate so they should be OK.<br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZn0YNqO4A11RsxS6GU3CLJnyzjUFmFl2j-hVw0FwHSCSKN6CDMeqICQ0WvPgyJwtde2AcbGginI8C1w98s9LJ1cgXCcvUhVNLPRlk9PHNrjQHl8faZ9huvvQAAPiS3GPLrrYl3QyfXuo/s1600/mould-ready-to-pour.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="181" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZn0YNqO4A11RsxS6GU3CLJnyzjUFmFl2j-hVw0FwHSCSKN6CDMeqICQ0WvPgyJwtde2AcbGginI8C1w98s9LJ1cgXCcvUhVNLPRlk9PHNrjQHl8faZ9huvvQAAPiS3GPLrrYl3QyfXuo/s400/mould-ready-to-pour.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
...so what happened when I was making the big mould? Now it's all over and the ending is happy, I can tell you.<br />
<br />
Everything was ready to go. The master was polished and carefully levelled. The big tin of silicone, catalyst added, carefully stirred and looking like very sticky custard, was ready to pour.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPgPgWlaSAqzL4ocLbDm6Y8b09xMSO78NTirPpyvYVn3Zz3i3U_PntI5x57hqKTDfm8gAEWFc-XE5Yfsl-XZnhCQ72gDbgMWYQqlsVt9dNOKyttC1LbylttdORgqijrla9fuIcFj-BgP4/s1600/P1070353.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPgPgWlaSAqzL4ocLbDm6Y8b09xMSO78NTirPpyvYVn3Zz3i3U_PntI5x57hqKTDfm8gAEWFc-XE5Yfsl-XZnhCQ72gDbgMWYQqlsVt9dNOKyttC1LbylttdORgqijrla9fuIcFj-BgP4/s320/P1070353.jpg" width="303" /></a></div>
<br />
The Captain was looking on.<br />
It was time to take the plunge and pour.<br />
<br />
Ah but I should have known from his wicked grin that I'd done something wrong!<br />
<br />
And so I started pouring. Carefully and slowly and all was good. 5 litres of silicone, just enough to fill the mould.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7BRal8783_OGs5AANHwRcUeTMnvERmL1-505qQaKyoBMuDjpN5UI3AlzbyNtLFRjFeG-ixWMgqagv0zbIx_mX6qwKyvtQdewT6LGfVTBPxjZqfYNHMKCYNgYhKFjyq4jzTCcvwzBBx48/s1600/finally-set.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7BRal8783_OGs5AANHwRcUeTMnvERmL1-505qQaKyoBMuDjpN5UI3AlzbyNtLFRjFeG-ixWMgqagv0zbIx_mX6qwKyvtQdewT6LGfVTBPxjZqfYNHMKCYNgYhKFjyq4jzTCcvwzBBx48/s400/finally-set.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I haven't photos to show you how beautiful it was because when I turned around to get my camera was when it all started to go wrong. I looked back and noticed a dip. It looked like the level was going down? The level was going down, but where was it going!<br />
No leaks, then I realise the master was beginning to float!<br />
You learn a lot at moments like this don't you. I tried not to panic and put my hands in the sticky goo to push it back down - gloop, gloop -great big sloppy bubbles came out. It slid sideways so I pushed it back to more or less central. All that time levelling it, wasted. So now I had to stand there holding it down (and it really wanted to float up and was very slippery and sticky) Luckily I got the quick set catalyst. Only 3/4 hour or so before it set enough to let go. And as I stood there arms aching I went over my stupidity. I had done small moulds before and fixed the master down with double sided sticky tape so I did the same for this one but of course it's bigger. Lots of air. Air lighter than silicone, wants to float up. In hindsight I should have glue gunned it down. Next time!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi00VT9IVJHeUbfQv0TjBPxufxRdk6zHhoiCTBLN98rDEWgqmYT77_NX99goXL43tHMmtKutP7pK5Tg5mcQNazUx6Ce6Rks-QoZ9kcMJ0TAHGfHodxoBcCQCQ90j5F-JF5cQMMCI-mxmuI/s1600/with-extra-litre.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi00VT9IVJHeUbfQv0TjBPxufxRdk6zHhoiCTBLN98rDEWgqmYT77_NX99goXL43tHMmtKutP7pK5Tg5mcQNazUx6Ce6Rks-QoZ9kcMJ0TAHGfHodxoBcCQCQ90j5F-JF5cQMMCI-mxmuI/s320/with-extra-litre.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Anyway it set in the end. You can see the holes where my fingers were holding it all down and how much silicone disappeared. I had to buy another litre of silicone and hope that was enough to level it.<br />
It wasn't quite but that was it.<br />
I'd spent enough. I'd sort it out somehow.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPd4RpWMyra8WUmkYfMTYVInS3z5E0a3vw3ru_T9yNg9MavtMhN2bHC8qh17IcIahC1yMyoXPT7ha0B0zcuQciPC44To32sDncnFUAAo2E1OBMp2NOkRsjx5UOFLSzlUHg728P5gEBzxE/s1600/fibre-glass-base.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPd4RpWMyra8WUmkYfMTYVInS3z5E0a3vw3ru_T9yNg9MavtMhN2bHC8qh17IcIahC1yMyoXPT7ha0B0zcuQciPC44To32sDncnFUAAo2E1OBMp2NOkRsjx5UOFLSzlUHg728P5gEBzxE/s320/fibre-glass-base.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So because it wasn't quite enough there was a bit of a curve and the base would need support. It would just flop round the edges when I turned it over the way it was and my resin blocks would be really distorted.<br />
Solution. I made it a fibreglass bottom so when I turned it over and took the master out, it would stay flat.<br />
<br />
But had it worked? I still had no idea if all that drama meant it now had bubbles and missing bits. After days of work it could all be useless.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtJofOX4KxXmgNvqydE4YOw7xP9-nFHULEOiz9PAefItZFgZsSMWu2IfDCdHN8RgZfj5vXoDs0MVqgomBHa47w45O32WFhE6Db9L0Ac-4W-VfNOyaHtqdAAO6pf33RQwVO_l8HH2WtPkY/s1600/silicone-slab.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtJofOX4KxXmgNvqydE4YOw7xP9-nFHULEOiz9PAefItZFgZsSMWu2IfDCdHN8RgZfj5vXoDs0MVqgomBHa47w45O32WFhE6Db9L0Ac-4W-VfNOyaHtqdAAO6pf33RQwVO_l8HH2WtPkY/s200/silicone-slab.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
I knew when I turned it over I would have to cut the big slab of silicone out that had 'disappeared' underneath the master. And here it is. Great, I will use it to make a wall so I can split the mould and make rectangular things in it. This was my plan anyway so nothing wasted.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5qY48lYCM7dmvfqHjLibgcpB3mWuIR4VreOFNldZHmW0c9en2d2qFt2evLR0RY1ozpdeQDLeUXYIBpf1Clsprwa-jUyC8tvRTHHO-090ktklDjsZaPFfcMALTsQDaFhH4hyphenhyphenHccVWkjpw/s1600/with-wood-support.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5qY48lYCM7dmvfqHjLibgcpB3mWuIR4VreOFNldZHmW0c9en2d2qFt2evLR0RY1ozpdeQDLeUXYIBpf1Clsprwa-jUyC8tvRTHHO-090ktklDjsZaPFfcMALTsQDaFhH4hyphenhyphenHccVWkjpw/s400/with-wood-support.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I finally pulled the perspex master out. And there it was. Perfect.<br />
What a relief, not a single bubble and beautifully smooth. It had worked!<br />
<br />
Then another problem. Getting it level again.<br />
Not such a problem in the end. I sat the mould on its fibreglass tray, on a board, with big blobs of silicone (nicked the bathroom sealant my husband was using recently to reseal the shower) and got it level from the inside. It is very important it is level as I want the blocks to be the same depth and so far they have been a bit uneven. I intend to re-level the three I have already made using this mould.<br />
<br />
Then I gave it a wooden jacked to support the sides and it was ready to go.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQXI9eT5pVJuPNoQMP_OSSlC0Y37WqKiQsJs5FeClO1xVgfs4bbjneREWN309FNs8GAQS1-ZvFmua7WsLkJHMKoVG03cpiHb3JdSpStwcsNo_byLMwH319yFf_YHuBa9gmfpzoLI9VvD8/s1600/bloc-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQXI9eT5pVJuPNoQMP_OSSlC0Y37WqKiQsJs5FeClO1xVgfs4bbjneREWN309FNs8GAQS1-ZvFmua7WsLkJHMKoVG03cpiHb3JdSpStwcsNo_byLMwH319yFf_YHuBa9gmfpzoLI9VvD8/s320/bloc-4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
This is the first time I used it.<br />
It's great knowing it isn't going to leak out the edges and it's so easy to get the blocks out, then there it is ready for the next one...<br />
<br />
... it was definitely worth all the effort.<br />
<br />
I love my new mould.<br />

<br />
Things change. I worked for Cornwall Wildlife Trust for twenty four years. Now I am a freelance artist and illustrator. And as I slowly get my head around this change I am enjoying the freedom to be in my studio more.<br />
<br />
Making a new mould for the big blocks. Post coming soon about this. It's been interesting!<br />
<br />

<br />
But also been casting many small seaweed resins to sell. Shells, feathers and text next.<br />
<br />

<br />
.. and as I sort through the sheets of acetate and seaweed and look at them on the light box I start to get an idea of what might happen in the new mould when it's finished.<br />

</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5ekJV8PjZaplTb5ErJouLH71pp8qjaZU1d_zRVI7wSCiFjUigpXSB64q2nKTpwkJazxuOmVlPKzRpuK2f8pexOQzYmHGoG5AK4m_EgzdRAwXH1GMyTX5uYjhGFnEM11q8aHl2EOsW6LA/s1600/first+block+on+light+box.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5ekJV8PjZaplTb5ErJouLH71pp8qjaZU1d_zRVI7wSCiFjUigpXSB64q2nKTpwkJazxuOmVlPKzRpuK2f8pexOQzYmHGoG5AK4m_EgzdRAwXH1GMyTX5uYjhGFnEM11q8aHl2EOsW6LA/s400/first+block+on+light+box.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
I have decided to call the one hundred resins <i>blocks</i>.<br />
<br />
This is <i>block 1</i> so far.<br />
<br />
Not sure how many I will make but I want to get them all to this stage before I sand and polish. They are growing from each other so this part needs to be a continuous process. Then I will sort out the wall fixings and lights.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh16aWYBAvqtFfDvkz66VlADba7uxp9ry9dGdRdEFSX2s3vz7LSMWRXX6ur4x2UZlXiujSX8m_hkK76-egXBdVqzGvHDPXI7E-HTqkGbxlYWh88qYh5MGGIOZPuoxyEvEdI7b_8odCRS6k/s1600/second+block+base.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh16aWYBAvqtFfDvkz66VlADba7uxp9ry9dGdRdEFSX2s3vz7LSMWRXX6ur4x2UZlXiujSX8m_hkK76-egXBdVqzGvHDPXI7E-HTqkGbxlYWh88qYh5MGGIOZPuoxyEvEdI7b_8odCRS6k/s320/second+block+base.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So I've started <i>block 2. </i><br />
Unlike <i>block 1,</i> which I set upside down, <i>bock 2</i> is face up. It is easier to see what I'm doing but the little squares are different depths which makes it trickier to get them all level at the end. Some I want to be clear, some I want to have a thin film of white clouding them. I want the text to read or be obscured, the objects to be near the surface or deep, the light to be diffused or sharp. Lots of variables and things to think about as I go along. This is the first 10mm of white which is the base.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiqANWMcYIF541IdwjN-4kKyFwk3r_3dfHCRBvT9awMyMAtobL5Au72DeQhLdfQV1WWe25km4uS7Yrt3TGkMpgN_8x4KlhbeP51hTjrUpjBGgsvDrwNt-UdSpxWzr0dsQY1M7z8ZSHj9Q/s1600/second-plock-plan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="296" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiqANWMcYIF541IdwjN-4kKyFwk3r_3dfHCRBvT9awMyMAtobL5Au72DeQhLdfQV1WWe25km4uS7Yrt3TGkMpgN_8x4KlhbeP51hTjrUpjBGgsvDrwNt-UdSpxWzr0dsQY1M7z8ZSHj9Q/s320/second-plock-plan.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And here is the plan. A vague plan.<br />
As always as I start to place them a few squares move and a few squares get replaced.<br />
<br />
My plan though is that this block won't be as dense as <i>bock 1.</i> It will have more white.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSBfD6GkMTvJVtze1uWibccIiD813vy2QD6ddH_9-beXRjdKFDXI9r6EHXZyN8sfBEiYrQPQgeVaEWUovwDbHGtz-W-y2HkHlVqNPd9geM8HR0MGcGEMAMqxtk7XhrShr5m4q3wwY_19U/s1600/first-second-third-pour.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="208" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSBfD6GkMTvJVtze1uWibccIiD813vy2QD6ddH_9-beXRjdKFDXI9r6EHXZyN8sfBEiYrQPQgeVaEWUovwDbHGtz-W-y2HkHlVqNPd9geM8HR0MGcGEMAMqxtk7XhrShr5m4q3wwY_19U/s640/first-second-third-pour.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It took four pours over two days to place everything. It will be many days before I get it out of the mould. Then I will have to make more little squares to make the next one. I'm thinking Five.<br />
<br />
As I make more little squares I put them on my light box and photograph them individually.They are on my Face Book page in an album <i><a href="https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.941610629220667.1073741864.257212004327203&type=3" target="_blank">resins on the light box as I sort through them</a> </i><br />

<br />
First layer of white resin poured.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHSrnbZXKhSpDO-nqe56s5vDG2uTVw8bXDvcjnv_d87F-24EHE9MypIluqYeUOqYgRi4bsXxXdfBAGyFBRoHanve9RYBYsQZxiVv2fO1BmBgVJsEsquIRa40OvvShkyABRsCOi1YFQSZ8/s1600/detail-of-back.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="638" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHSrnbZXKhSpDO-nqe56s5vDG2uTVw8bXDvcjnv_d87F-24EHE9MypIluqYeUOqYgRi4bsXxXdfBAGyFBRoHanve9RYBYsQZxiVv2fO1BmBgVJsEsquIRa40OvvShkyABRsCOi1YFQSZ8/s640/detail-of-back.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Remember this is the back. Detail on the light box. Really like this. Things under the surface not quite seen. Leading me onto the next piece. I will use white resin more.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiasvJcsAOEchli5IWOnb7Vlryga6r75CI8wvS7yh8lvAcNlNASl4pvEFELcu0z7xfDaRhs48wx56Du0hbE-bJaQpkrfOLmIYoj4MSjHOJt8eyhhyphenhyphen2uhMFPZpvymp3vJJXL7EFT5wTTse0/s1600/P1060147.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiasvJcsAOEchli5IWOnb7Vlryga6r75CI8wvS7yh8lvAcNlNASl4pvEFELcu0z7xfDaRhs48wx56Du0hbE-bJaQpkrfOLmIYoj4MSjHOJt8eyhhyphenhyphen2uhMFPZpvymp3vJJXL7EFT5wTTse0/s400/P1060147.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Last layer and everything is covered. Whilst I was out there, doing my head in with litres of resin, I poured a few more little squares - need to make them continuously now as I plan to make more of these and some rectangular light slabs.<br />
<br />

<br />
And here it is out of the mould.<br />
A big slab of resin. The first one.<br />
<br />

<br />
Ready to be sanded down and have the lighting and hanging points installed.<br />
<br />
But for now I will put it aside and get on with the next one.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgimTEOIjuZH9jx-MQWJ1s-e-7_4glVsibZZUSJO37hq3Q5MHsVDCQ9w0VGYuVxrva8CXtyPUmR_H78Jc63RAz0XW8J2C_vwrem729INP5M5Wa9y39VSekFg3Thyphenhyphen3XpyZzY1CP2Q4u6NIk/s1600/P1060107.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgimTEOIjuZH9jx-MQWJ1s-e-7_4glVsibZZUSJO37hq3Q5MHsVDCQ9w0VGYuVxrva8CXtyPUmR_H78Jc63RAz0XW8J2C_vwrem729INP5M5Wa9y39VSekFg3Thyphenhyphen3XpyZzY1CP2Q4u6NIk/s400/P1060107.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="line-height: 0.38cm; margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="line-height: 0.38cm; margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;">I have a whole week of holiday before me without all the seasonal distractions. </span></div>
<div style="line-height: 0.38cm; margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;">I'm free to play and get on with the one hundred resin piece. </span></div>
<div style="line-height: 0.38cm; margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;">I was going to be all secretive and blog about it once it had all worked out and all the scary, 'things going wrong' bits were out the way. But today I plunged off the cliff of indecision and faffing, stuck one hundred resin squares together and I'm not sure there is any point in being </span><span style="line-height: 14.3622px;">secretive.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;">Things did go wrong. Of course. </span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;">This was days of arranging and rearranging on the light box. I say 100 squares but actually there are more likely at least 250 as many of the squares are built up by layering 2 or 3 slices. </span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhU23M-0rKWeFCvcZeATTryY_k9U6dks_x2eV9az65b1tCXmY8RBlLE3i9tsQ8zv-J03CLNEV8daM0ridE4kTABOc8SXXJXeI_B9pTWUUlj1Inc587hBPCr968Qtd2kTl46De4pszgpG58/s1600/P1060111.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhU23M-0rKWeFCvcZeATTryY_k9U6dks_x2eV9az65b1tCXmY8RBlLE3i9tsQ8zv-J03CLNEV8daM0ridE4kTABOc8SXXJXeI_B9pTWUUlj1Inc587hBPCr968Qtd2kTl46De4pszgpG58/s640/P1060111.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;">The squares are all different heights so I had to place them in the mould face down. That's why I had to arrange them first. I poured 100ml of clear resin in the mould as a 1mm base. Then, when that had set, poured</span><span style="line-height: 14.3622px;"> 200ml in and started placing them. </span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_62nTLIZ1zWXwuSfVhb1D7brJsnxfcIxgGF5jVie_-Ja0YRZSyKWuyKSbDRlW0u_7dgIuxwOnjx7BPDAHkMJf-3Dcu9l5rvZb7Oi5cv6E9mpcA6kL9wP6y_Ay6mO4i2Z80w7J9jOu-vc/s1600/P1060113.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="626" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_62nTLIZ1zWXwuSfVhb1D7brJsnxfcIxgGF5jVie_-Ja0YRZSyKWuyKSbDRlW0u_7dgIuxwOnjx7BPDAHkMJf-3Dcu9l5rvZb7Oi5cv6E9mpcA6kL9wP6y_Ay6mO4i2Z80w7J9jOu-vc/s640/P1060113.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;">Of course as soon as I started doing</span><span style="line-height: 14.3622px;"> that things changed. I lost the order and lost layers and things ended up in different places. Oh and I was a row short so was making it up as I went along. </span><span style="line-height: 14.3622px;">Then I was covered in resin and - well things changed - as they do</span><span style="line-height: 14.3622px;">! </span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;">But random is something I embrace and I don't believe my mind should be the only thing that has a say in what I make.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;">So this it but upside down. The other side, the front, is a mystery, but I get a feel of how it will be by putting it on the light box. OK so far. </span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;">My mind was empty of word as I built up the layers but I can think of words now to describe what I was doing. </span><span style="line-height: 0.38cm;">I won't put them together in a </span><span style="line-height: 14.3622px;">sentence just leave them floating like these little squares I make:</span><span style="line-height: 0.38cm;"> </span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1; text-align: center;">
<span style="line-height: 0.38cm;"> light space emptiness growth hidden </span><span style="line-height: 14.3622px;">exposed one two another nothing small box mystery object time circle cell contained sample relic treasure three ten hundred chaos square red word poem scattered joined number memory amoebae part section bee secret shell sacred egg random order full seed white layer journey resin embedded detail preserved collection floating simple living</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;">Tomorrow I will skim the whole thing in white resin. </span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;">White resin will seep in all over the place. </span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<span style="line-height: 14.3622px;">More mystery and organised randomness.</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">
<br /></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0cm; orphans: 1;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7l1-20mEM7XA40ZBDrbk7le0yzbyitcuAaE-QkuSZkCtHzBQkr-at8PrQm0DEq4_mezte8gOFCUohZOWJ_03YPYVqIe6XpjwaPFb32hRt-fyFW70i95jSz5JUAcPvdrgfW62wQrg3d5Q/s1600/P1050187.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7l1-20mEM7XA40ZBDrbk7le0yzbyitcuAaE-QkuSZkCtHzBQkr-at8PrQm0DEq4_mezte8gOFCUohZOWJ_03YPYVqIe6XpjwaPFb32hRt-fyFW70i95jSz5JUAcPvdrgfW62wQrg3d5Q/s400/P1050187.jpg" width="222" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
So I finished slicing up the wood. It is now tied into little bundles and stacked up on shelves. For later!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhd9T-22dyUo56x-2B010mZeazM-rBVdw7pqWBaP_FZ0Lod_NUxH2pm1uD2uIyqciodsOI6tV2kgqeL_aH865eedy5ICPj6UqyUN-yOcPCZxaAwYLkTjsIK14Af77CCVOgusKqtfPZQPrw/s1600/P1050886.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhd9T-22dyUo56x-2B010mZeazM-rBVdw7pqWBaP_FZ0Lod_NUxH2pm1uD2uIyqciodsOI6tV2kgqeL_aH865eedy5ICPj6UqyUN-yOcPCZxaAwYLkTjsIK14Af77CCVOgusKqtfPZQPrw/s400/P1050886.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Back to the resins. Over the past few weeks I have got every resin (well almost) out to the garage.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I have sorted out the best ones and these are now polished ready to sell. I have photographed some of them and put them in an album on my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.941610629220667.1073741864.257212004327203&type=3" target="_blank">Face Book page</a>.<br />

<br />
.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYBPmWUde7i-IjVbAyPQrtqfuWJKpF2XfO-5Y6R7vqspcuKideBM1OGaORtCF4W2PDPY9D8n6dSB5G-oGAMbIQe18oPRbx7N8ym9P1QZJBgeWisDcuKXIkB1S3vjLaFPjGz2RgfaOB2PM/s1600/P1050195.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYBPmWUde7i-IjVbAyPQrtqfuWJKpF2XfO-5Y6R7vqspcuKideBM1OGaORtCF4W2PDPY9D8n6dSB5G-oGAMbIQe18oPRbx7N8ym9P1QZJBgeWisDcuKXIkB1S3vjLaFPjGz2RgfaOB2PM/s320/P1050195.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The rest are on sheets of perspex so I can look at them on the light box.<br />
<br />
The idea is to have everything in one place so I can start this new piece.<br />
10 x 10 resin squares and back lit by 100 LEDs.<br />
I know as I start other things will happen but its always good to have a vague plan.<br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Been getting on with the next thing on my list. The new blade came for my saw so I've been ripping up the last of the big bits of oak I have and generally making a mess in my recently tidy garage.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYWArTd8S8xphkNmVAsWfaz_YzVk4_AFdWR8Ca6l_Ld4ZDHB-KyBy25pT38f62Pjmfro1JEUZOM5msOTAdAvvV_Uh7arVzzfwPulINgEEg6bKjkTlLQtrc52Yxh-3mJQ98GbWCkAqSNn4/s1600/P1050169.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="208" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYWArTd8S8xphkNmVAsWfaz_YzVk4_AFdWR8Ca6l_Ld4ZDHB-KyBy25pT38f62Pjmfro1JEUZOM5msOTAdAvvV_Uh7arVzzfwPulINgEEg6bKjkTlLQtrc52Yxh-3mJQ98GbWCkAqSNn4/s320/P1050169.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Didn't think to put a dust sheet over the resins on the bench at the back so everything is covered in a fine film of dust.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
But I have loads of lengths of oak.<br />
No idea what I will do with them but there they are.<br />
Love having materials around me that are full of possibilities.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu_EacVkGTD7SzNXJjKVpq0gKbJC8nOyes-Rh1EvCxeXMyFw3uG0zVdpJzz1cswl9BFrucoRg6WjuKeiBYVnaiG6wnUI_gVWZIeZDtbKkoM0v9GwY1Hxqegaa2mfCv_cT_BlrjCbuZ24o/s1600/moth.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="628" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu_EacVkGTD7SzNXJjKVpq0gKbJC8nOyes-Rh1EvCxeXMyFw3uG0zVdpJzz1cswl9BFrucoRg6WjuKeiBYVnaiG6wnUI_gVWZIeZDtbKkoM0v9GwY1Hxqegaa2mfCv_cT_BlrjCbuZ24o/s640/moth.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I haven't made any art for a long time. Nothing has happened in my studio, I haven't used my sketchbooks, taken any photographs or even written. It's been over a year and the longer I was stopped for, the more I worried, and the harder it became to do anything about it. I hated going in my studio even and doubted I'd ever make anything again. I stopped.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
But lately I even stopped worrying. I stopped expecting anything and as I stopped all that I started to accepted. Everything, even myself not making art.<br />
And that was when I at last, got round to tidying my studio. A long overdue job. That year and a half I haven't been making art overdue!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL1T0SZJ8tN1DcWLNXEq_LxYEyFWNwGjNiVPaBXqaYu-WEhkgTklpsiIgN0FanUTzxR2RykUZ6yHlC8osVTM5eitosuHpGdH8krt1DfB3W8N8AiSYvlgSUz2fB_1CkTQXT81ircEP1bpo/s1600/DSC_0894.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL1T0SZJ8tN1DcWLNXEq_LxYEyFWNwGjNiVPaBXqaYu-WEhkgTklpsiIgN0FanUTzxR2RykUZ6yHlC8osVTM5eitosuHpGdH8krt1DfB3W8N8AiSYvlgSUz2fB_1CkTQXT81ircEP1bpo/s200/DSC_0894.jpg" width="136" /></a></div>
<br />
I wish I'd taken some photographs before I started because it was outrageously messy and full of stuff I'd been holding on to, just in case, for too many years. But as I have lost the habit of recording things I didn't. Anyway the tidy took two weeks and was from top to bottom and ended with a van full of stuff going to the tip and a heap of wood being stacked on the wood pile. And as my studio became tidier and more spacious and as things appeared I haven't seen for a while it became a space I wanted to spend time in and I began to make vague plans:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglUeKAS-oC0gYY3UiyxV9USJJaX1pE2smPab2TzWc-JOfxwGrOaSRkHjNVarekp9vBF1130NFrdVb9AG2dRbNixwwTfGJ3n-vAO1g0pj0IHj85YL5zCmuroakAGowAy_g-bKxzR1eXeZw/s1600/wrapped+around+me.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglUeKAS-oC0gYY3UiyxV9USJJaX1pE2smPab2TzWc-JOfxwGrOaSRkHjNVarekp9vBF1130NFrdVb9AG2dRbNixwwTfGJ3n-vAO1g0pj0IHj85YL5zCmuroakAGowAy_g-bKxzR1eXeZw/s640/wrapped+around+me.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
*finish the bottle of resin<br />
*finish off, sort and gather all the resin pieces together<br />
*clear the resin out the way so I can do other things<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1w18t53mdTvdOp9gvKU9egtAYVLyJBFbLDsIYj61LnYGz6lkobl_uZ7Lrb1r5J83WB5_KCPl9L7cTbBn4jH48utDj190D1hDd8LQRUgvIdPNwOXqC0ASF8oPp5ptgIxRaQK3AZfMpWCs/s1600/DSC_0893.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="264" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1w18t53mdTvdOp9gvKU9egtAYVLyJBFbLDsIYj61LnYGz6lkobl_uZ7Lrb1r5J83WB5_KCPl9L7cTbBn4jH48utDj190D1hDd8LQRUgvIdPNwOXqC0ASF8oPp5ptgIxRaQK3AZfMpWCs/s640/DSC_0893.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
*sort through the wood in the rafters<br />
*process it with the table saw<br />
*sell the table saw<br />
*spend some days working with copper<br />
*spend some days working with wood<br />
*spend some days working with wax<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6Ej7SS_ew1hSbCDmimT1kErcXPTGGCAVVgPuft6o3ToCM2rzKnSBgba5fMKWIiwrecJ97UEkC_Cz-Gc98ZR4vLDgg5qHOQbOW6zl1l3DaOw8O64rNSRkYz8ZDgWgHrxx6KFk3NHAe9yg/s1600/not+die.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6Ej7SS_ew1hSbCDmimT1kErcXPTGGCAVVgPuft6o3ToCM2rzKnSBgba5fMKWIiwrecJ97UEkC_Cz-Gc98ZR4vLDgg5qHOQbOW6zl1l3DaOw8O64rNSRkYz8ZDgWgHrxx6KFk3NHAe9yg/s640/not+die.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
The first bit of the plan 'finish the bottle of resin' is happening now. I've been using the few litres of resin I have left by setting everything that is delicate before it deteriorates. Butterfly wings, bees, dragonflies, snakes skin, birds feathers and wings.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCsfh63CyKZpdF0Mi4yDYDTBFvm9dTcWp3ccn8g9HyV_0DOVrsICYMPwTjXoz1Xbma1VeWSs9os4PskjYrkTzs49qS14YoWpk1scW7A-yM5GN-OqH8kaH3Z7xf-eLoip_T1zm63w-Gmks/s1600/DSC_0887.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="371" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCsfh63CyKZpdF0Mi4yDYDTBFvm9dTcWp3ccn8g9HyV_0DOVrsICYMPwTjXoz1Xbma1VeWSs9os4PskjYrkTzs49qS14YoWpk1scW7A-yM5GN-OqH8kaH3Z7xf-eLoip_T1zm63w-Gmks/s640/DSC_0887.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The second bit of the plan 'finish off, sort and gather all the resin pieces together' is happening now. There are boxes of little resins all over the place in various stages of curing, sanding and polishing and I've been looking at them on a light box.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-eq3GhSF79r8TqssTMIjZJC4vytW-6873UN4LYP7v99-ARd59pBDb5CRNXk1aipiSWJJFUBr74wLTM6W0EJ6dqZUmIk11rMOzODH-aG_XxvXIhxvatGeV_2s2hApYwQZAP0rLkJgroZU/s1600/DSC_0912.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-eq3GhSF79r8TqssTMIjZJC4vytW-6873UN4LYP7v99-ARd59pBDb5CRNXk1aipiSWJJFUBr74wLTM6W0EJ6dqZUmIk11rMOzODH-aG_XxvXIhxvatGeV_2s2hApYwQZAP0rLkJgroZU/s400/DSC_0912.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: right;">
I have so many beautiful things and I realise many of them are just waiting for me to assemble together with light.</div>
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEAn1nBYTC51h90LBABpqkNEtDlXER0apwEyCdNYC2qJMAaQm4kaJBY1kQKczd8yfo-fm6yKz8WEngyK0VlWNTjt5S4ObZbGZx078C6DgUWCqVAhoHSd-wKbTGuy4AhHPnhnQPeYkR1uM/s1600/tortoiseshell+wings.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEAn1nBYTC51h90LBABpqkNEtDlXER0apwEyCdNYC2qJMAaQm4kaJBY1kQKczd8yfo-fm6yKz8WEngyK0VlWNTjt5S4ObZbGZx078C6DgUWCqVAhoHSd-wKbTGuy4AhHPnhnQPeYkR1uM/s640/tortoiseshell+wings.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
These butterfly wings.<br />
If I do nothing else I will set together and illuminated these three little pieces of resin.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGFCyOcXla95x9cJZTBgqfg6qn4Hus2GeTgcb4pTBEjyxxi82ec2CXnj7LJlQsTIBZr_RloYE-H3iXW2LFAMahs-giuFscmqbSCkGtzo6paPvX2hTvItMvR49zxU-WKgCHdgLRgN0RYYE/s1600/light+box.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGFCyOcXla95x9cJZTBgqfg6qn4Hus2GeTgcb4pTBEjyxxi82ec2CXnj7LJlQsTIBZr_RloYE-H3iXW2LFAMahs-giuFscmqbSCkGtzo6paPvX2hTvItMvR49zxU-WKgCHdgLRgN0RYYE/s400/light+box.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
So I might get on with the fourth and fifth things on the list 'sort through the wood in the rafters and process it with the table saw'. But the third bit of the plan 'clear the resin out the way so I can do other things' may not happen just yet.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdoSNcGjnQ51zkjlE2o_OFaeG6K-gVexwzFm8LyZbbIMM8exJTgiX7tha2ZOFVAsWBCDwm56_BkRJXLc0GykVscrvyuhAWzlEvQBt_OnOnUUk8SWPkC_nKs73uK5BkSdRS6nevziDlWYo/s1600/DSC_0933.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="210" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdoSNcGjnQ51zkjlE2o_OFaeG6K-gVexwzFm8LyZbbIMM8exJTgiX7tha2ZOFVAsWBCDwm56_BkRJXLc0GykVscrvyuhAWzlEvQBt_OnOnUUk8SWPkC_nKs73uK5BkSdRS6nevziDlWYo/s320/DSC_0933.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
<br />
it may be I will start making art again soon<br />
it may be that I don't<br />
the important thing is</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
if the plan changes course<br />
for one reason or another</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
i will follow where ever it goes</div>
<div style="text-align: right;">
and not worry</div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Monday was the launch of the <a href="http://www.cornwallgoodseafoodguide.org.uk/" target="_blank">Cornwall Good Seafood Guide</a> website at</span> my favourite fish and chip shop <a href="http://www.harbourlights.co.uk/" target="_blank">Harbour Lights</a> in Falmouth<span style="font-family: inherit;">. Please look at this fantastic website and use it. It's there to help</span><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 22px; text-align: center;"> you make good seafood choices.</span><br />
<br />
For over a year now I have been creating illustrations for this project as part of my job at Cornwall Wildlife Trust and I am quite proud to know l have helped in a small way to make it the great resource it is.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghT76Ni4OOmW23UM3mb23Xy3_YdV_KJYiPeGXi6j6nKv9o_KdSbLNK657m9t_hDBO5pu_njSxI3b-tveHBfqCB0SkhO84zQmIuhzUsQBn2ShiQac2uo8Jsj8oFFACz4iESULcSVUlKYiI/s1600/marmite-and-the-mackerel.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghT76Ni4OOmW23UM3mb23Xy3_YdV_KJYiPeGXi6j6nKv9o_KdSbLNK657m9t_hDBO5pu_njSxI3b-tveHBfqCB0SkhO84zQmIuhzUsQBn2ShiQac2uo8Jsj8oFFACz4iESULcSVUlKYiI/s1600/marmite-and-the-mackerel.jpg" height="231" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
It was a fabulous job to be asked to do and I really enjoyed it but it was also incredibly hard and draining.<br />
The hardest times were when I had to stop painting regularly because I had so much other Trust work to do then had to start again. I was very slow and my confidence and belief in myself as an artist completely crumbled but I had to keep painting. Thanks to my long suffering friends for being there and supporting me when I was dark and doubting everything. Mostly thanks to Marmite my companion through many fishy moments.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Incredibly, though I doubted almost every one I did, they came out OK. I didn't have time to illustrate all 68 species I was asked to do so Matt Slatter, Marine Awareness Officer for Cornwall Wildlife Trust, who I was working for, had to find illustrations from other sources. But I did 30 of the most important species and they are being used on posters, pop-ups and stickers and the prettiest ones will be sold as prints hopefully to raise money for the Trust. <br />

Then I was nominated by a couple of friends. As I am quite distant from my own work and very busy with other work and life at the moment I felt fearful of having to perform and post my stuff when I didn't really feel like it. But I also wanted to do it for my friends and because I thought maybe it would be good for me.<br />
<br />
The basic rules for #artchain seem to be you post three pictures a day for five days of your work on Face Book with the hash tag #artchain in the title somehow and nominate someone else each day. Everyone does it their own way and for different reasons but basically its about sharing.<br />
<br />
I decided do a mini retrospective of my journey so far as an artist and went right back to my student days and I ended up enjoying myself and I feel like putting the whole #artchain thing on here so it's all in one place.<br />
<br />
So here it is<br />
<br />

don't know many artists and the ones I do know seem to have done it
already. Anyway I thought I'd go back a bit and have a look at my
degree and post graduate work. So day 1 is from

I was always outdoors naming the plants and the birds as a child but
I got lost in London. It wasn't the best place for me. Now having
lived in Cornwall and worked for Cornwall Wildlife Trust for more
than twenty years I have re-linked with my roots, my curiosity and
awe of the natural world and my being an artist. Now it's Me,
Cornwall and the sea.</span></span></span><br />

Not sure what happens now because I am still overwhelmed with life and work and still not making or drawing but it's helped me see that it's OK to stop and do other things. I am not a career artist. I just do what I love doing and sometimes that is making art and sometimes that is swimming and walking and enjoying being with my friends and family. When I feel good about things I will share and when I need to keep quiet I will keep quiet.<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
Something is eating my wings...<br />
I had to put all my small wings in resin a few weeks ago because they were being eaten and I was going to loose them. Blue tit, wren, song thrush and kingfisher. Now the big ones are going and all my feathers are becoming lace. I'm guessing feather mites are the culprits.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqww7MTn2pxlA0IHa-LrQhhOdoROJhInCk7qZJd51GKoyc1lyTRgvMKlrvzHcuX7SRSiT8IFpRUlsozW97vm1tTzyj3lmjQvUFbgE9M-20HpivKxDh3Wo_Xvkc0F5h9AuwUiXSYFNyWjU/s1600/DSCN4408.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqww7MTn2pxlA0IHa-LrQhhOdoROJhInCk7qZJd51GKoyc1lyTRgvMKlrvzHcuX7SRSiT8IFpRUlsozW97vm1tTzyj3lmjQvUFbgE9M-20HpivKxDh3Wo_Xvkc0F5h9AuwUiXSYFNyWjU/s1600/DSCN4408.jpg" height="640" width="291" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I put them in the garage yesterday to sort out today forgetting that when it's cold condensation builds up along the beams and drips onto my table, right where I'd put all my eaten feathers. So I have eaten and soggy feathers.<br />
<br />
Anyway the calamity is forcing me to think about what I want to do with them. As I have been asked to put a newt and a frog in resin and I have another invasive marine thing to do, maybe I will do some feathers too.<br />
<br />
Bits and pieces of things in resin are accumulating. Maybe next year I will start to put these things together.<br />

<br />
I've not had a chance to do any life drawing since early summer. So much for making it a regular thing in my life. But yesterday I got a chance so I packed board, easel, paper and a big box of drawing stuff in the van and drove down to Mullion for a days drawing.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I didn't really know what I was doing or what I wanted to do. I felt fragmented. I didn't stay in one place long or do anything sustained just kept moving and redrawing the same pose over and over...<br />

... and as I forgot to bring a small board so I could move around the room to find the best position the only roaming I did was with my very small sketchbook.<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
But I like these. After drawing the models curves, hips and hollows over and over again she became hills, stones and bones.<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Later a friend asked if I had done any great drawing. I said I didn't but I'm good with that. The point wasn't to do anything great just to draw...<br />
